RF brings writing help

A grant is bringing a writing specialist into every classroom at Rocky Ford Schools this year.

The district used a Comprehensive School Reform grant to secure the services of Gregory Denman to help encourage teachers and students in the battle to improve student writing skills. Denman not only talks to teachers at in-services and training sessions, he visits the classrooms and helps them with each individual student. By the end of the year, he will have been in every classroom four times working with students and teachers at the same time. Already there has been progress according to teachers in the program. They are looking forward to working with Denman again and seeing how he plans to encourage writing skills in math classes.
