I never thought I would make it this far: 600 columns published since December 1991. I'm proud of that record, impressed by my own achievement -- but not too impressed. After all, the fear and intimidation that comes from a deadline is a great motivator.

But the real story is not fear and intimidation, even though sometimes that's what it takes to get me started. The real story is the satisfaction that comes from writing.
