The Life WritingResearch Unit has launched a new peer-reviewed print journal, Life Writing , published by the Australian Public Intellectual Network (API). This partnership already publishes Australian Cultural History, and Journal of Australian Studies .

The first issue of Life Writing (Feb 2004) addresses cross-cultural life writing as it relates to the construction of Australian identity. The second issue (August 2004) will be on life writing and the public sphere. Contributions to these editions have been by invitation, but we intend to put out a call for papers for the third issue (Feb 2005).

Life Writing was launched by Professor Sally Morgan at the John Curtin Gallery, Curtin University of Technology, at 5 p.m. 18 February 2004. It was launched a second time at the Fourth International Auto/Biography Association (IABA) Conference at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shatin, Hong Kong, in March 2004.
